Chilliwack’s Slo-Pitch is gearing up for a major milestone — the 50th anniversary of the league, which traces its roots back to 1977. As the anniversary approaches in 2027, we are hoping to uncover more of the league’s early history and are calling on former players, organizers, and fans to help piece it together.

We have combed through archives of The Chilliwack Progress as well as consulted with the Chilliwack Museum and Archives and various folks to build a timeline of the sport’s development in the city. While we’ve been able to find a few early references, much of the league’s history — particularly from the 1970s and 1980s — has been difficult to track down.

That’s why we’re reaching out to the community. If you played Slo-Pitch in Chilliwack in the early days, helped organize a team, or even have old photos, uniforms, rosters, or newspaper clippings tucked away, we’d love to hear from you. Even small memories — the names of teams, coaches, or where games were played — can help us preserve the league’s story and properly celebrate its 50th.

Slo-Pitch has long been more than just a game in Chilliwack. It’s been a hub for connection, fun, and community spirit — and we want to make sure that legacy is remembered and honoured.
